Query Critique Contest

Free query critique. That’s what I’m offering to four lucky people IF I get enough entries. So far, it’s not looking so good.

Here’s the thing. I’m an editor, but also a teacher. I want to select four different kinds of queries (although, they may or may not be of the same genre) so my followers can benefit from reading not only the critique, but the revision and second critique as well. That way, even if they don’t win a crit, they may be able to apply some of the suggestions to their own query.

If you want the details to the contest, check this out. If you're not ready to query, send your friends over.

  4. Maybe it's the public exposure keeping people at bay. I have no doubt you'll do great at the critique and be able to help some writers out.

  5. Just thought of something. Maybe you should hop over to the Public Query Slushpile (openquery.blogspot.com)and see if Rick will put a mention of your contest on the blog. People go over there to publicly post their query and get reader feedback, so they are already okay with the public thing. Plus, you'll be offering a professional critique. (You could also look over the queries posted and leave comments on the ones you like that you're running a contest and you may be interested in critting their query.) Just some ideas. :)

  6. Lynnette - I gave this contest a mention on my latest blog post. Now I just have to get my query submitted.
