Is it me or have Halloween costumes gone up in price? Maybe I just never noticed before, but man! $20-$45 for a few hours? Yikes! Luckily, one of the twins wants to be Sleeping Beauty (Aurora), so I can "cheat" the system by purchasing a role-playing Aurora costume, which is better made and half the price. The other twin, however, is determined to be a kangaroo this year. I'm not sure where she got that idea. She just decided she didn't want to be a "person". She wants to be an animal and she REALLY likes kangaroos (as of a few days ago, apparently). Hopefully, we'll be able to find her a costume in the store, but if not, I've seen kangaroo costumes on the internet.
What are your kids going to be this year?

My boys re going to be a skeleton pirate and Herbie Husker the University of nebraska mascot.
ReplyDeleteMy son won't decide until two days before Halloween, and he'll probably pick something unusual, like last year's snake. 8[
ReplyDeleteI don't have kids, but growing up, my mom made all of my costumes. You should've seen me the year I went as Snoopy!
ReplyDeleteMy munchkin has decided to be TinkerBell this year. I have just about everything for her costume. I agree, costumes are getting more and more expensived.
ReplyDeleteAs it is my birthday I will wear my birthday suit LOL
ReplyDeleteThe Cypriots love dressing up at carnival times, the expats have a wide selection to choose from for children, but they are expensive here.
I've got one zombie, one ninja, and one undecided. Halloween is my favorite holiday, so we go all out at our house. I usually make the kids' costumes, not because I'm supermom or anything. I'm anything but that. It's just become a tradition. The kids would be disappointed if we did it any differently.
ReplyDeletemine's too young to really get to decide this one on her own yet. so i'm thinking some sort of angelic being might be easy to make. i'm open to easy costume suggestions for a 20-month old girl.

My son wants to be a ninja, and the costume from last year still fits. :]
ReplyDeleteOh yes, much too expensive, but then I'm really frugal. :) I like looking for costumes at garage sales and thrift stores, because they don't have much wear (save for those few hours) and are ridiculously cheap.
ReplyDeleteMy littlest is going to be a cat. Easy enough with a black leotard and tights we already own, and we found ears and a tail for less than $10. Biggest will be a witch. We don't do scary stuff or go all out, so we'll find clothes from home and do pretty makeup with the witch hat we got for $4. I can handle all that. :)
Great that your kid likes kangaroo. But will it be too bulky for her?

There are some neat costume ideas there. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone dressing up as a snake before. Cool.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, we'll be able to see the kangaroo costume in person so she can decide if it'll work or not. Or, maybe she'll see something else she likes. *crossing fingers*

Mine are all grown up so no more trick or treating.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm gonna dress up.
