Savvy Authors

You might think you’ve joined enough writing groups and can’t handle one more. Well, before that’s your final decision, I suggest you check out www.savvyauthors.com. This site is crazy-good for writers. It’s only $30 a year, but the benefits are enormous (and no, I don’t get paid for saying this.)

I stumbled across this wonderful site last week when I was reading workshops available for March. One that interested me was offered through Savvy Authors. I jumped over there to sign up. However, once I checked out the site, I decided it was worth my time and money to join. Here are a few benefits I’ve discovered so far:

-Free writers’ boot camps
-Free mini-workshops
-Discounted workshops
-Blog tour wizard
-Auto-critter (more on this later)
-Query tracker
-Craft worksheets
-Forums
-Chat rooms
-Tons of book raffles

Although I haven’t tried the auto-critter tool, I’m so excited about it. Basically, you paste a page, chapter, or the whole manuscript into the space provided and the auto-critter will find the weak and overused words. It underlines these words in the text, but also gives you a percentage tally, so you know how many of these words should be replaced. Tres cool.

So, hop on over and check out Savvy Authors. You don’t have to become a member to take the workshops, but I’d recommend it. The class that starts today is: Goal Hunters: Revealing the Real Story Stakes and Motives by Raquel Rodriguez. Fun, fun, fun. I’m all signed up and ready to start.

Have you discovered a new writers’ blog or website you’d like to share with us?

  3. I was just checking out that site last week (Holly Lisle is doing a Crash Revision course there in March),and thinking I might join. I need to look a little more closely, but it looks like a really good site for romance writers. Thanks for the more in-depth look!

  6. Thanks so much for sharing this! I've seen lots of sites like this that require a pretty hefty member's fee, so it's always good to hear about a reputable one from a reliable blogger. I'll have to check it out.

  16. I joined SavvyAuthors for the boot camp, and all the workshops. I'm a lawyer who is doing writing now. Because of my background - they approached me about doing a 'legal issues for writers' blog for them. I of course accepted.. they are a great bunch of people and the workshops are excellent.. That auto critter is really cool..

Come over and have a look ---- (no they aren't paying me to say this) LOL

I've been a member since Feb 12th and have been nothing but happy with them so far - great group of people who really support each other.

I tend to repeat/ overuse certains words all the time. This sounds like something very helpful to the writer. Awesome, indeed.

  18. I joined today and am very excited about this! So good to see you gave it a great run-down. I am, so far, a paranormal/horror fiction writer, so I hope the fact that I'm not a romance writer won't be a problem. They advertise it for all genres, so I think I'm doing the right thing.

BTW - Love your blog, too. :)
