We're Five!!

I can’t believe it. My twins are five today. *sigh* Another major milestone to check off my list. The next one will come in September, when they start Kindergarten, but I can’t even think about that.

For now, I have to focus on their upcoming party. Princess and the Frog, of course. I was fortunate enough to find some princess and frog (not Princess and the Frog) wooden decorations for them to color. They’re so proud of their creations and can’t wait to display them for the party.

Unfortunately, our award-winning baker won’t be in town this weekend, so she can’t make our cake. As a result, I’m trying the only other bakery in town and am crossing my fingers. I already bought the little Princess Tiana doll and frogs to put on the cake (and later used as toys), so all the cake decorator has to do is create a swampy theme. Shouldn’t be hard, right? Well, for me it would be, but not her. In the meantime, I’m off to pick up cake mix and frosting-in-a-can. The girls want to bring cupcakes to preschool tomorrow to celebrate their birthday.

No writing for me today. What about you? What are your plans? Where are you in your WIP?

  1. Double the cupcakes, double the fun! :) For me, today holds cleaning, cooking and laundry. My WIP is waiting patiently in the wings. I might have lunch with him.

  2. Lynnette, I feel for you on the milestones. They tug at a mother's heart. My daughter's principal, who became a friend, told me how she felt my pain as she saw me drag myself off campus with my shoulders sagging and tears streaming down my face after I dropped my one and only off for her first day of Kindergarten. I survived, but I kept Kleenex in business that day.

I wept last week as we reached more milestones. Gwynly and I picked up the Fashion Queen's first car, which we'll deliver the moment her last final is over. (Freshman living on her college campus aren't allowed to have a car.) Those were tears of joy--for the most part.

I'd just recovered when our daughter called to tell me she was hired for a her summer job after completing her first interview. The catch is that she'll be working in her college town, which means she won't be coming home this summer. Went though a few tissues after that call.

I hope your twins' birthday is a lot of fun, even if you have moments where you have to wipe your eyes.

  7. Mmm cupcakes! Happy birthday is right!

Today it's so beautiful outside that it's hard to work... I'm trying to promise myself that if I get some editing done on an old manuscript, that I can go out for ice cream... so we'll see!
